This is my take on the World War II Smatchet, built as a proper working knife - not a display piece. It features a 30cm blade made from 1095 high carbon steel , known for its toughness and ability to hold a sharp edge. It’s sharpened on one side with a strong spine, giving it solid cutting power and durability. The 13cm wooden handle feels natural in the hand and gives a firm grip. Simple, traditional and solid. Total weight is 645g including the sheath , so it has some real presence without being over the top. It comes with a 100% genuine leather sheath that suits the blade and holds it securely. NOTE: Sheath colour may differ from the picture depending on available dyes at the time of production. That means it’s tough and holds a great edge, but like all high carbon steels, it needs basic maintenance. Keep it lightly oiled to prevent rust. After use - especially after hunting or being outdoors - just wipe it down and give it a light spray of WD-40 or another quality oil. A quick wipe with an oiled rag every now and then will keep it in good condition. This is a historic military design made to be used. Suitable for hunting, camping and general field use.
